The Somerville Police Station meets the operations need of Victoria Police to help support the growing local community and greater regional area. This facility accommodates approximately 150 staff and house the Uniform Branch, Highway Patrol, Crime Scene Unit and Executive Branch.
Following the natural contour of the land, the building is ground hugging and the site maintains pre-existing vegetarian. The architectural form is divided into a ground floor precast concrete base and a Corten steel facade on the upper level. The Corten cladding is folded to form the five points on a star, referencing Victoria Police’s core values of integrity, leadership, flexibility, respect, support and professionalism.
